Charcoal

There are many benefits of grilling with charcoal. When direct-heat grilling, charcoal instantly vaporises food drippings into smoky, aromatic particles giving a more intense flavour. When placed below food, charcoal grilling results in less moisture loss compared with other types of cooking. At the Smoking Log Co. we offer a range of Charcoal options.

CLEANHEAT.
Clean Heat is a Premium restaurant quality lumpwood charcoal.  Made from Mopani hardwood which is a Sth African invader bush, it is very similar to Australian Gidgee. Clean Heat is used by many noteworthy BBQ Competition teams. Mopani hardwood inhibits the growth of short grass which impacts heavily on the food supply for native Sth African grazing animals such as Rhino, Impala and Springbok. Above all, Mopani lump wood charcoal and briquettes are a renewable product. Not only are you offering tremendous flavour at your next barbecue but you are also choosing a positive environmental option. Cleanheat Premium is available in 10kg and 18gk bags. Premium is the best option for low and slow cooking. Cleanheat Everyday is available in 20kg bags and 4kg bags. Everyday is ideal for faster general cooking and searing. Cleanheat Briquettes are available in 4kg bags. Clean heat briquettes burn clean and hot. Great for grilling and low and slow. Holds temperature really well.

Charcoal Brothers

Australian Mallee Lump Charcoal
Mallee Root Charcoal is arguably the best fuel source to cook your spit roast or pizza, giving your meat an authentic wood fired smokey flavour. The mallee root heat and smoke provides a natural cooking source without spoiling its taste through artificial flavours. Sold in 20kg bags. Mallee Root Charcoal is made by burning wood in the absence of oxygen, and lump charcoal is the product of that. Since lump is charcoal in its most natural form, it’s no wonder purists will almost always prefer it. Beyond that, lump charcoal has a lot of attractive qualities; it lights faster, burns hotter, and leaves very little ash compared to briquettes. Mallee Root Lump charcoal is also more responsive to oxygen, making it easier to control the fire’s temperature if your grill has adjustable air vents.
